One way to get recognition of your business is to strategically place a human interest article in a publication, either print or online. Here is an excerpt from a magazine article that Beverly wrote about a challenge many people face:

I was the most unlikely candidate, if ever there was, for being a model of fitness. From early childhood, I had never done anything physical and never even considered nutrition in my dietary choices. Although I was thin into my twenties, weighing 116 pounds at 5’3″ when I got married, the pounds slowly crept up. I added three children to my family in fifteen years and 30 pounds. At forty, I would become fatigued climbing two flights of stairs. Although asthma compromised my endurance, I was still fat and unfit.

All that changed three years ago when my husband planned a family trip to the Grand Canyon. The high point of this “adventure” vacation was to be hiking in and out of the canyon, fourteen miles each way. I was terrified but also feeling guilty about putting a damper on my husband’s wish. So I accepted the challenge, however reluctantly. In preparation for the trip, I did a seven-mile hike over level ground, which fatigued me but proved doable. My motivation and tenacity paid off — I successfully hiked the canyon, slowly but with resolve, resulting in a life transforming experience. At age 50, I was determined to turn my sedentary, physically unchallenging life around.

My next step was to begin working weekly with a personal trainer. Starting two and a half years ago, my first goal was to become a runner, a huge but not unattainable goal for someone who wasn’t even a walker. The key to success lay in establishing small, incremental mini-goals. First, I started walking on the treadmill three times a week for half an hour, at a slow to moderate pace. To build up speed and endurance, I next began jogging on a track. Then my trainer introduced me to interval training, alternating between a slower-paced jog and a sprint for a short period of time. The asthma, endurance and speed all significantly improved over several months.
